BETHLEHEM, Pa., Oct. 1, 2010 - James Madison senior Alison Parris (Saint Leonard, Md./Patuxent) continued her strong season with a third-place finish at the Paul Short Run on Friday at Lehigh University.

Parris completed the 6-kilometer course in 20 minutes, 15 seconds and crossed the line just 11 seconds behind the individual champion, Georgetown's Emily Infeld, who clocked a time of 20:04.

As a team, the Dukes took third place in the Gold race that fielded 41 teams. JMU finished with 169 points and had three runners in the top 20. Georgetown won the event with 34 points and Virginia was runner-up with 98 points. The Dukes improved by five places in this year's event, after taking eighth in 2009.

Along with Parris, sophomore Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hills) took 15th place with a time of 20:55 and sophomore Stacey Nobles (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) finished five seconds later in 21:00, good for 20th.

Sophomore Katie Gorman (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) was 39th with a time of 21:22, junior Jess Zozos (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) finished in 92nd place after posting a time of 22:06 and freshmen Kelsey Seymour (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) and Erin Lopresti (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) rounded out the scoring with times of 22:25 (128th) and 22:56 (180th).

Six JMU runners also competed in the Open race that had no team scoring and 212 competitors. The Dukes' top finishers were senior Kelly Jemison (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac), who placed 14th with a time of 22:46 and senior Mariah Hagadone (Mt. Solon, Va./Buffalo Gap), who posted a time of 23:23 for 34th place.

Freshman Julie Strange (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) and sophomore Mary Cerasa (Shrewsbury, N.J./Red Bank Regional) finished back-to-back in 46th and 47th places with times of 23:45 and 23:46. Sophomores Michelle Savarese (Middletown, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) and Mikaela Davis (Elkton, Va./Spotswood) rounded out the Dukes with times of 23:50 (49th) and 23:53 (53rd).

JMU will take next week off before returning to compete in a pair of events on Saturday, Oct. 16. The team will split off to race at the Indiana State Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind., and the William and Mary Open in Williamsburg, Va.
