HARRISONBURG, Va., Sept. 20, 2010 - The James Madison women's cross country team is ranked eighth in the Southeast region of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll, released Monday.

The Dukes did not compete last week, but were victorious at the JMU Open Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 11. Senior Alison Parris (Saint Leonard, Md./Patuxent) won the individual title, crossing the line in 18:21.3 in the 5.2-kilometer race. She was named the Colonial Athletic Association Runner of the Week (Sept. 14) for her efforts.

William and Mary moved up from 15th to 11th in this week's poll and will host the Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge in Williamsburg, Va., on Sept. 25.

The University of Richmond made the biggest jump this week, from 11th to sixth. The Spiders won the Wolfpack Invitational at North Carolina State last week, topping the host Wolfpack, who are ranked fourth in the region.

JMU returns to action on Friday, Oct. 1, at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.
