Parris kicked off the 2010 season with an individual title at the 2010 JMU Open Cross Country Invitational at New Market Battlefield in New Market, Va., on Sept. 11.
She completed the 5.2-kilometer course in 18:21.3, more than one minute ahead of sophomore teammate Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hills), who placed second.
The Dukes had seven runners finish in the top 10 to win the team title with 15 points, 47 ahead of second-place Longwood (62).
This award is the second of Parris' career. She earned her first CAA weekly accolade on Oct. 18, 2009, after placing 30th in the Blue race at the Indiana State Pre Nationals (Oct. 17).
After the team's finish Saturday, JMU jumped a spot to seventh place in the Southeast region of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll to retain the league's highest ranking in any region.
Parris and the Dukes will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 24, when they participate in the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.
