James Madison University Athletics and the VerStanding Broadcasting Group have long partnered to bring JMU sports fans live radio coverage of Dukes’ football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball, as well as additional news associated with the JMU athletics program.  VerStandig’s WSVA 550-AM, a powerful media member in Harrisonburg for more than 70 years, serves as the flagship station of the JMU/nTelos Sports Network.  nTelos, the corporate sponsor of the network, is the leading provider of wireless and wireline communications services to consumers and businesses in Virginia and West Virginia.

See below for a listing of specific network coverage.

The network includes radio affiliates throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and Washington, D.C., with air signals reaching into the neighboring states of North Carolina, West Virginia and Maryland.  The JMU Nation extends globally, and fans around the globe can also catch the action on the Internet through MadiZONE, the broadband channel on JMUSports.com.

WSVA is the originating station for all broadcasts of JMU football and men’s basketball. WSVA provides coverage throughout the

Shenandoah Valley region and into portions of eastern West Virginia.  Sister station WHBG 1360-AM, also an ESPN programming affiliate, is the home to JMU women’s broadcasts, covering the Harrisonburg area.

WWWR 910-AM in Roanoke covers the Roanoke and New River Valley region.  In Hampton Roads and into northeastern North Carolina it's ESPN-WGH 1310-AM.  Fans in Northern Virginia and the surrounding area can tune into WMET 1160-AM.  The Richmond affiliate is WREJ 1540-AM.

MadiZONE is the Internet source for all live and archived broadcasts, in addition to many other broadband audio and video streaming. All of JMU's home football, men’s basketball and women’s games are video streamed via MadiZONE. Check out MadiZONE for the full lineup of premium programming.

The JMU/nTelos Sports Network also presents The Dukes Huddle, every Monday night during the college football and basketball seasons from 7:10-8 p.m. as football coach Mickey Matthews is featured during the football season and men’s basketball coach Matt Brady is the featured guest during the basketball season.  Also on Mondays from 6:30-7 p.m., it’s Speaking of Sports, the Kenny Brooks Show featuring the Dukes’ women’s basketball coach.  Fans are invited to call in with their questions or comments to both shows at 1-800-388-9782.

WSVA's veteran sportscaster Mike Schikman leads the broadcast team with his play-by-play and is the host of the Dukes Huddle and Speaking of Sports.  Karl Magenhofer, news director for WSVA, joins Schikman in the broadcast booth at Bridgeforth Stadium and courtside at the Convocation Center for men’s basketball. Curt Dudley, the director of multimedia communications for JMU athletics, handles color commentary duties for most road games and anchors the Dukes Sports Center, halftime news reports aired during all JMU broadcasts.  David Taylor, of JMU University Marketing, is the play-by-play voice for women’s basketball and is often joined by Schikman’s colorful commentary.
