At this point in time, you are probably in the midst of narrowing down your choice of colleges. I would like to share a few things about JMU. The University is located in Harrisonburg, Virginia, the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. James Madison University is rapidly becoming one of the most popular and publicly acclaimed undergraduate institutions in America as noted in the 2012 US News, Kiplinger Magazine and both the 2012 America's Best Colleges and Fiske Guide to Colleges 2012. We have been recognized as one of this country's premier public university's for the past 18 years.
Complementing this excellent academic environment, JMU women's tennis is a fully funded Div. I program. JMU competes in the tough Colonial Athletic Association, which is comprised of eight other Division I universities: Drexel, Northeastern, Hofstra, Delaware, UNCW, Towson, Charleston and nationally-ranked William and Mary. We have produced NCAA qualifiers, 27 ITA Scholar Athletes, an ITA National Arthur Ashe Award winner, National ITA participants, ITA Team Academic All-Americans as well as receiving numerous CAA distinctions. As a coach, I am honored to be one of only 15 active Division I coaches to have reached the 400-win plateau.
At JMU, we are seeking prospective players who have their best years of tennis ahead of them. This characteristic coupled with a competitive Division I schedule and an atmosphere of learning both on and off the courts, has allowed our program to reach its desired goals. We hope to keep this tradition within our program and would like to invite you to become a JMU Duke. Best of luck, and I look forward to meeting you at some point during the recruiting process.
