At JMU: Fifth-year Duke who is expected to fill a leading role as a cornerback and kick returner... the nation’s premier kick returner, according to JMU head coach Mickey Matthews... as a cornerback is a “playmaker” with great speed and had an outstanding overall spring practice period, said secondary coach Mark Hendricks... in JMU history starts the 2009 season first in combined kick (kickoff and punt) returns for touchdowns (6) and in kickoff return average (30.5), tied for first in kickoff returns for touchdowns (3) and punt returns for touchdowns (3), second in kickoff return yards (1,526) and punt return average (12.9), third in combined kick return yards (1,822), fifth in kickoff returns (50), and ninth in punt return yards (296).

 

2009: Voted Second Team All CAA as a kick returner, punt returner, and cornerback. Finished the season with 41 tackles and 12 break-ups.  Had 640 kickoff return yards and 97 punt return yards. Recieved pre-season All-America 1st team Specialist honors as kick returner by The Sports Network... pre-season 1st team honors as return specialist in Phil Steele's 2009 College Football Pre-season Guide... pre-season CAA All-Conference Team as Specialist kick returner... pre-season All-America 1st team honors as return specialist by College Sporting News... in season opener at Maryland returned the opening kick-off 50 yards... recorded four total tackles... vs VMI had four punt returns for  25 yards, two kickoff returns for 112 yards, also recorded one tackle and one pass break-up...vs Liberty had one return for 24 yards and two tackles...vs Hofstra had four tackles and two break-ups, also had two kick returns for 77 yards...vs Richmond recorded four tackles, and also had one kickoff return for 19 yards...vs Villanova had two tackles...vs William and Mary recorded six tackles , four solos, also had two kick returns for 52 yards and three punt returns for 37 yards...vs Delaware recorded three tackles, and five pass break-up, also had two kick returns for 73 yards...vs Maine had seven tackles, four solos and three pass break-ups...vs Umass had three tackles and a fumble recovery...vs Towson had five tackles, a forced fumble, fumble recovery, blocked field goal, and also two kickoff returns for 89 yards.     

 

2008: Was in the team’s playing rotation at cornerback throughout the season and emerged as one of the nation’s leading combined kick returners... took part in 30 tackles, including 18 unassisted... returned an interception 18 yards to set up a touchdown drive vs. Hofstra... had a career-high eight tackles (5 solo) at Towson and four (3 solo) at Villanova... broke up three passes at Towson... for the season had 640 kickoff return yards, JMU’s No. 5 season mark... his 29.1-yard kickoff return average is JMU’s No. 3 season mark, trailing only his averages from the two previous seasons... his 296 punt return yards are JMU’s No. 8 season mark and his 12.9-yard punt return average the program’s No. 6 season figure... American Football Coaches and College Sporting News All-America return specialist... second-team All-America punt returner and honorable mention as a kickoff returner by The Sports Network... CAA special teams player of the year... first-team All-CAA as a punt returner and second team as a kickoff returner... first-team All-ECAC return specialist... first-team all-state return specialist by the Virginia Sports Information Directors and the Roanoke Times... JMU’s specialist of the year... fifth nationally in kickoff return average and 15th nationally in punt return average... returned punts for touchdowns vs. North Carolina Central (38 yards), Richmond (69 yards) and Delaware (64 yards) and scored on a 99-yard kickoff return vs. Appalachian State... gave JMU the decisive points with one second remaining in a 38-31 win at Richmond with his punt return for a score... ignited JMU’s rally from a 21-0 deficit with his 99-yard scoring return to open the second half vs. Appalachian State... had 157 yards, matching JMU’s No. 5 game mark, on five kickoff returns at Duke... set JMU’s season record and tied its career mark with his three punt returns for scores... tied JMU’s career mark of three kickoff returns for touchdowns... occasionally used on offense... ran four times for 43 yards and had an eight-yard reception.

 

2007: Limited by physical problems but played in eight games and took cornerback starter's and key kick returner's roles by year's end... started vs. Towson and Appalachian State... had 18 tackles (15 solo, 2 for loss) and broke up four passes... averaged 30.3 yards on 18 kickoff returns but didn't play the NCAA minimum of games to be among the national leaders... his 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown vs. Towson is the longest kickoff return in team history and his 154 kickoff return yards (6 attempts) at Appalachian State tied for JMU's No. 8 game figure... his 545 kickoff return yards are No. 6 on JMU's season list and his 30.3-yard average JMU's No. 2 season mark, behind only his 34.1 of 2006... had a 66-yard return at William & Mary and a 48-yarder vs. New Hampshire... had three returns for 109 yards at William & Mary and four for 116 yards vs. New Hampshire... had a season-high six tackles (all solo, one for loss), and broke up four passes vs. Towson... had four stops (3 solo) vs. Coastal Carolina... blocked a conversion kick at Appalachian State.

 

2006: Started each game at cornerback as a redshirt freshman... had 45 tackles (26 solo), an interception and five pass deflections... had a season-high seven stops vs. Bloomsburg and Youngstown State (3 solo in each game)... had five tackles (2 solo) at Appalachian State and four vs. Rhode Island, William & Mary and Villanova... intercepted a pass vs. Northeastern... returned 10 kickoffs for 341 yards... had three returns for 157 yards, including a 99-yarder for a touchdown, at Youngstown State... the 157 yards were JMU's No. 5 game mark and best since 1998... his 34.1-yard kickoff return average is the best season for a Duke with 10 or more returns... his 99-yard return tied for the then-longest in team history and was its best since 1996.

High School: First-team all-district and all-region and second-team all-state as an Ocean Lakes senior... ran for 1,304 yards and 17 touchdowns... as a junior ran for 1,336 yards and 13 touchdowns and had a 240-yard game... all-district and second-team all-region as a junior.
