HARRISONBURG, Va., May 6, 2009 – The James Madison women’s golf head coach Paul Gooden named sophomore Kelly Lynch (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) the team’s Most Valuable Player on Wednesday.
“Kelly worked very hard on her game this year and was a big part of our success,” Gooden said. “She improved the entire season and was playing her best golf at the end of the year.”
Lynch led the team with a 77.2 stroke average and finished tied for first with five rounds under 75. She also shot a team-low round of 69 at the CAA Championships on April 19.
She finished in the top-10 three times this year and in the top-20 five times. She recorded her best finish, a tie for fifth, at the CAA Championships to be named to the all-tournament team.
