HARRISONBURG, Va. - James Madison redshirt-senior lineback Stephon Robertson has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced today. It is the first time this season and third in his career he has earned the honor.
Robertson racked up a team-high 12 tackles, including six solo, to pace a Dukes defense that held Charlotte to a single first-quarter score in Saturday's 34-7 win. CAA Football's Preseason Defensive Player of the Year would also force and recover a fumble that then led to a Dukes touchdown on the ensuing play. The win over the 49ers marked the fourth-straight game that Robertson led the team in tackles and his third with at least 10 tackles in 2013.
JMU travels to Delaware to take on the Blue Hens in their first CAA game of the season. The game is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m., and will be televised on Comcast Regional Sports.
