Men's Golf In Fifth Through Two Rounds of Bash at the Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The James Madison men's golf team slipped two spots and is currently fifth after two rounds at the 2013 Bash at the Beach, March 11. The three-day, 54-hole tournament, hosted by Appalachian State, is being played at the The Surf Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Dukes struggled to put it together, finishing at 13-over 297 to post a two-round total of 15-over 583 to drop from third to fifth. Radford is the leader at 13-under 555, 10 shots ahead of Jacksonville in second at 3-under 565. Western Kentucky is third at 6-over 574 with High Point at 14-over 582 in fourth.

JMU is led by senior Rich Leeper and sophomore Trey Smith, who are tied for fourth at 3-under 139, as Smith had a 1-under 70 and Leeper shot a 1-over 72 in the second 18. Junior Ben Firebaugh is next at 11-over 153 in a tie for 47th. Freshman Tyler Williams is currently 50th at 12-over 154, with freshman Chris Kapsak is 53rd at 14-over 156. Playing as individuals, juniorTucker Koch is tied for 17th at 2-over 144, while senior Ryan Vince is tied for 28th at 5-over 147. Radford's Callum Tarren is the individual leader at 7-under 135, one shot ahead of High Point's McKay Tye at 6-under 136 and three shots better than teammate Weston Eklund at 4-under 138.

The Dukes will tee off in the final round, as the Dukes will play with High Point and Appalachian State in the final round, starting on holes 4-7.
