HARRISONBURG, Va. - The James Madison track & field team will send 19 athletes to compete in 13 events at the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference indoor championships in Boston this weekend.  The meet begins Friday, March 1 and runs through the afternoon of Sunday, March 3 at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center.

Last year, the Dukes finished eighth out of 50 competing teams at the indoor championship meet.  This year, teams from North Carolina up to Maine will send athletes to participate in the meet.

Senior Marissa McDonald (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) is qualified for the 60-meter dash and long jump this year.  She competed in both events in 2012, finishing ninth in the 60-meter dash with a semifinal round time of 7.62 seconds and finishing third in the long jump with a distance of 5.94 meters.

Sophomore DaQuaa Scott (Staunton, Va./Robert E. Lee) also makes her return trip to Boston for the weight throw event after qualifying with a school-record toss of 17.65 meters on Feb. 12 at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup.  At the 2012 indoor championship meet, she finished in 26th place after heaving the 20-pound weight 15.32 meters.   She is also eligible to compete in the shot put competition alongside freshman Adrienne Alexander (Queens, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin).

Eligible for the most events at the 2013 ECAC indoor championships is senior Stacey Nobles (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) with three.  She is the lone Duke to be qualified for the mile run, and she is qualified for the 3,000-meter run with fellow senior Katie Gorman (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh).  Nobles can also compete on a distance medley relay team.

ECAC competition begins Friday at 4:15 p.m. with the indoor pentathlon and closes on Sunday with the 4x400-meter relay.
