SCOUTING REPORT
♦ The Blue Hens are ranked No. 18 in the
latest AP media poll and No. 19 in the USA Today coaches' poll. They are 23-3 this season, winners of 18
straight games, and are a perfect 14-0 in conference play to top the league
standings.
♦
Senior forward Elena Delle Donne leads the league and is second in the nation with
a 25.0 ppg scoring average. The national
Player of the Year candidate also tops the CAA in free-throw percentage (.913)
and made 3-point percentage (.487) while she is second in blocks (2.3) and
fifth in rebounds (8.6).
♦ Fellow
senior forward Danielle Parker is second
on the team and sixth in the CAA with 8.5 rebounds. She also boasts a team-leading 1.3 steals
average. On the offensive end, senior
guard Lauren Carra is second on the
team with 11.5 points per game.
♦ Senior
point guard Kayla Miller has a
league-leading 2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio.
She averages 3.4 assists and 1.5 turnovers each outing.

In addition to topping the
league standings, the Blue Hens lead the league in seven statistical
categories. Defense is the name of their
game as they top the CAA in scoring defense (50.4 ppg allowed), field goal
percentage defense (.332), 3-point field goal percentage defense (.270) and
blocks (4.0). They are defeating
opponents by an average of 16.2 points per game and grabbing seven more
rebounds than foes, including 40.7 percent of offensive rebounds.
♦ The Dukes have won three straight and are 18-8 this season. They are 12-2 in league games, including a perfect 7-0 away from the JMU Convocation Center, and sit two games behind Delaware in the CAA standings.
♦ Senior Tarik Hislop continues to climb the JMU career charts as she increased her own records to 129 career starts and 130 consecutive games played in the Feb. 21 win over Towson. Currently averaging 16.8 points per game, Hislop is just five points shy of the 1,700 career scoring mark.
♦ Junior Kirby Burkholder also moved up the JMU career chart on Thursday against Towson as she sank four 3-pointers, putting her fourth on the all-time made 3's list with 261. She is currently second in the CAA in free-throw percentage (.895) while she is fourth in the league in both 3-point field goals made (2.7) and 3-point field goal percentage (.383), helping her average 15.0 points per outing. Burkholder also leads JMU in rebounds (8.3) and steals (1.0).
♦ CAA All-Rookie candidate Jazmon Gwathmey posted a career-high 17 points in the 79-45 victory over Towson, going a perfect 8-8 from the field. Since returning to the starting line-up Feb. 7 against UNCW, the redshirt freshman is averaging 9.8 points per game off of 63.9-percent shooting and 7.4 rebounds. In the last three games, she is averaging 12.0 points per game off of 70.8-percent shooting and 7.7 rebounds.
♦ JMU continues to lead the conference in scoring offense (68.9) and rebounding offense (42.7). The Dukes also have the best turnover margin of the league at +3.73 as their opponents turn the ball over 17.8 times per game compared to 14.1 turnovers by the purple and gold. .
