Each year, the CAA sponsors a blood challenge between all of the schools in the conference. Every college or university sets a day during the fall semester and with the help of local blood donation centers, conducts a campus wide blood drive. A tally is kept of all those who donate at each location and at the end of the challenge, the CAA choses a winner based on the results and presents that institution with a trophy.
The date for this year's blood drive will be Tuesday, October 23, 2012. The drive will be held in Warren Hall in the Transitions room from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. All students, staff, faculty members and alumni are encouraged to come out and donate to help the five million Americans who will need blood in the next year, as well as help increase JMU's chance of winning this year's challenge.
For the past 11 years, the blood drive has raised over 32,000 units of blood, which has in turn saved the lives of over 96,000 people.
Donors will receive a free blood challenge t-shirt as well as snacks.
To register for an appointment, visit the Virginia Donor webpage. Search for blood drives in the Harrisonburg area (zip code 22807), and select JMU-CAA Blood Drive. A list of available appointment times will then be displayed. Any questions or comments can be sent to Tiffany Brutus at firstname.lastname@example.org.
