Nell joined the James Madison University Sports Medicine Department Staff as an adjunct assistant athletic trainer in August 2008 and in June 2010 was promoted to Assistant Athletic Trainer. In her new position Nell's clinical responsibility is with the women's cross country and track and field programs as well as supervision of graduate students with men's and women's tennis and swimming and diving.  Nell is also the Department of Sports Medicine's representative on the HOPE team on campus (Helping Overcome Problems with Eating and Exercise).   In addition, Nell is an Approved Clinical Instructor within the Athletic Training Education Program and provides clinical education and evaluation for the undergraduate athletic training students.

Nell received her undergraduate degree from Grand Valley State University in Michigan in December 2005. She completed her Master's degree in kinesiology from James Madison University in May 2008.  Nell previously served as a graduate assistant within the Sports Medicine Department working with men's and women's gymnastics and the women's soccer program.  Nell is a nationally certified athletic trainer by the Board of Certification and is a licensed athletic trainer by the Virginia Board of Medicine.  She also holds advanced certifications as a Corrective Exercise Specialist from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. In addition Nell is a certified Professional Resucer CPR/AED Instructor for the American Red Cross.
