HARRISONBURG, Va. - The James Madison women's tennis team tallied three singles championships and a doubles championship on the final day of play at the Navy Blue & Gold Invitational. JMU went 4-2 on day three in Annapolis, Md., giving them a 22-7 record on the weekend.
Sophomore Taylor Pinchoff (Sylvan Lake, Mich./West Bloomfield) and senior Michelle Nguyen (Springfield, Va./South County) won the doubles A Flight championship on Sunday 8-4 over Pitt's Amanda Wickman and Molly Wickman. Pinchoff added a second flight title to her name when she defeated Long Island's Sanne Louwers 6-1, 6-4 in the singles A Flight championship match.
In the singles B Flight championship, junior Ruxandra Andriescu (Brampton, Ontario, Canada/Turner Fenton) won the title over Navy's Logan Antill with a two-match shutout.
Rounding out the day for the Dukes was freshman Cara Wirth (Reading, Pa./Wilson) taking the singles D Flight championship against Pitt's Kimmy Borza. Wirth battled for a 7-6(3) win in set one before falling 4-6 in set two. She won a decisive third match 10-5 to take the title.
JMU finishes out its fall tournament season next weekend at the ITA Atlantic Regionals in Blacksburg, Va. Hosted by Virginia Tech, match-play is set to begin on Friday, October 19.
