Three Women's Basketball Dukes Earn Preseason Recognition

HARRISONBURG, Va., Oct. 12, 2012 -- Three James Madison women's basketball players have earned preseason honors from the website College Sports Madness.

Freshman guard Angela Mickens (Staunton, Va./Robert E. Lee) was selected the Colonial Athletic Association preseason Freshman of the Year.

Senior guard Tarik Hislop (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) was named to the preseason All-CAA First Team, and junior guard Kirby Burkholder (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) was named to the Second-Team.

Mickens led her high school to the 2012 Virginia state championship and was named All-State First Team for the third straight year.

Hislop won All-CAA Second Team honors last season, when she led her team to the Women's National Invitation Tournament championship game.  She averaged 14.8 points a game last season.

Burkholder received All-CAA Third Team recognition last year, when she averaged 11.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per contest.
