Former James Madison outfielder Rich Thompson (1998-2000) has enjoyed a career year in his 12th year of professional baseball.  While he hit a combined .310 with 29 steals in 93 games between two different Triple-A clubs, the highlight was a May trade to the Rays with an immediate promotion to the Major Leagues.  Thompson found himself in a big league ballpark for the first time since 2004 and recorded his first MLB hit.

Following a brief stay with the Rays, Thompson was sent down to Triple-A Durham and flourished until being called up again to the Rays with September roster expansion.  Now he finds himself as a key contributor, mostly pinch running, in a pennant race.  We had a chance to catch up with Rich in September during a series at Camden Yard.  The video, which includes reflections of both his memorable 2012 season and his time at JMU, can be viewed via the attached video link.

There have been numerous articles written to capture Rich's unique journey back to the Majors with several linked to this story.
