HARRISONBURG, Va. - The James Madison men's tennis team finished strong at the Elon Invitational, compiling five doubles victories and two singles wins on the third day of the tournament.

Senior Ryan Pool (Melbourne, Australia/Braemar (Chattanooga)) pushed his season win total to a perfect 7-0 with a 6-2, 7-5 win against Ted Nilsson (Coastal Carolina) to capture the A2 Singles Flight championship.  The win marks his second flight championship of the fall tournament schedule.

Pool also captured the A2 Doubles championship with freshman Robert Stirling (Caboolture, Australia).  The duo first defeated Richmond's Ethan Dunbar and Sebastien Fauchet 8-5 in the semifinals, then cruised through UNCG's Ahmet Sarioglu and Gaston Murray 8-2 in the finals.  The senior/freshman pairing is a perfect 6-0 in doubles action this fall.

In the C1 Doubles consolation bracket, seniors Greg Vladimirsky (Staten Island, N.Y./Broward Virtual) and Bastien Russo (Lyon, France/Notre Dame des Minimes (Shorter)) took the title after two Sunday morning wins.  In the consolation semifinals, Vladimirsky and Russo were victorious over East Carolina's Blake Gregory and Damien Brenard 8-3.  They then took down UNC Asheville's Daniel Kripak and Alex Croker 8-3 in the finals.

Russo also won the C2 Singles Flight consolation bracket on Sunday when he defeated Irakliy Marutian (North Carolina Wesleyan) 6-2, 7-5 in the final match.

Freshman Maxi Branth (Stockholm, Sweden) and senior Florent Sentenac (Borderes, France/Lycee Theophile Gautier (Auburn Montgomery)) also saw Sunday action in the B1 Doubles consolation bracket.  Branth and Sentenac won 8-5 against Longwood's Giorgi Khmiadashvili and Daniel Elston, but fell 8-2 in the consolation final against Wake Forest's Brendan Henry and Conner Sherwood.

The Dukes will take next weekend off, but will return to action Friday, Oct. 05 for the UVA Fall Invitational.  JMU will head to Charlottesville, Va., for the three-day tournament.
