Brian C. Frerking
Frerking joined the JMU Athletic Department in June 2011. In his role as Associate Athletic Director for Principle Relationships and Campaign Stewardship, he is responsible for the cultivation and solicitation of major gifts, and management of all capital campaigns for JMU athletics.
Prior to coming to JMU, Frerking was the Associate Athletic Director for External Operations at Western Carolina University from 2008 – 2011 where he supervised fundraising, marketing and promotions, corporate sponsorships, media relations and ticket operations. In his time at Western Carolina, which included time as Assistant Athletic Director for Development, Frerking was responsible for the coordination and oversight of developmental strategies aimed toward annual giving campaigns, capital campaigns, major gifts, and other major fundraising operations.
Before taking the reins at Western Carolina, Frerking was the Associate Vice President for Major Gifts with the Texas A&M 12th Man Foundation from 2005-2008. While at A&M, Frerking was part of the major gift staff that raised over $50 million for facility improvements, operational costs for the 20 athletic programs at A&M and endowments for student-athlete scholarships.
Frerking began his career in athletic administration at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a graduate intern with the Rams Club in 2001. Ultimately rising to Associate Director for Annual Giving, he supervised the planning and implementation of annual fund events and game day special events as well as managing the Rams Club volunteer system.
Frerking is a 1998 graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology. He earned his master's degree in sports administration from North Carolina in 2002. Brian, his wife Jackie, and their two daughters, Allie and Katie, reside in Weyers Cave.
