HARRISONBURG, Va., June 27, 2012 – James Madison field hockey incoming freshmen Erika Bienlien (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) and Kristen Reitano (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) have been selected to play in the USA Field Hockey National Futures Championship.
Bienlien and Reitano were selected from Region Eight to represent Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama in the four-day event.
The National Furtures Championship is the premier event for the USA Field Hockey Futures program. It serves as a selection event for USA Field Hockey and is the foundation of its Olympic pipeline system. Athletes are talent identified by USA staff and are considered to be in the top 13-percent of the athlete pool.
The U-19 championship is going on currently and is being held at the National Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va. The final game is scheduled for Wednesday, June 27.
