HARRISONBURG, Va., May 17, 2012 - The National Collegiate Athletic Association announced the field for both the track and field East and West Preliminary Rounds today. James Madison will have three athletes competing in the East Region Preliminary in Jacksonville, Fla. over Memorial Day weekend. Juniors Annie Reiner (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes), Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) and Marissa McDonald (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) will all be competing for the Dukes.
Reiner, the 2012 CAA 800-meter Champion, qualified for the 800-meter run with a time of 2:06.64, a mark that earned eighth place at the ECAC Championships last weekend. Reiner's qualifying time has her seeded 19th out of 48 runners in the event.
Harman, another CAA Champion for Madison, will compete in the 1500-meter run. She qualified with a time of 4:20.28. Harman's mark, also earned at the ECAC Championships was good for third at the meet. She is seeded 25th out of 48 runners.
McDonald qualified for NCAA Regional competition in the long jump. She earned her mark of 6.06 meters in a second-place finish at the JMU Invitational. Her mark stands as the top mark in the Colonial Athletic Association this season and is good for the No. 42 seed, again out of 48 competitors.
Competition begins at Hodges Stadium on the campus of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. on Thursday, May 24 and continues through Saturday, May 26.
