Five Dukes Finish in Top 10 at ECAC Track and Field Championships

PRINCETON, N.J., May 13, 2012 - Five Dukes finished in the top 10 on the final day of competition at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships in Princeton, N.J. on Sunday.  Juniors Danyelle Kent-Robinson (Bristow, Va./Brentsville), Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) and Annie Reiner (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) as well as sophomore Jordan Simmons (Plainfield, N.J./Bishop Ahr)each finished inside the top-10 in individual competitions.  The Madison 4x800-meter relay team also earned a top 10 finish.

Kent-Robinson got the Dukes going in the high jump.  The Colonial Athletic Association high jump champion reached a height of 1.70 meters (5'7").  Her mark was good for seventh place and earned JMU's first points of the competition.

Harman earned the Dukes' highest finish of the day.  After finishing 11th in the competition last year, Harman earned third place in the 1,500-meter run on Sunday with a time of 4:20.28. 

The Dukes 4x800-meter relay team earned a sixth-place finish on Sunday.  Freshmen Kristen Landry (Boonton Township, N.J./Mountain Lakes) and Morgan Sheaffer (New Bloomfield, Pa./West Perry) followed by senior Brittany Wilhelm (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) and freshman Erin Lopresti (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) turned in a time of 8:59.50.

In the 100-meter dash, Simmons earned fourth place for Madison, sprinting to the finish in 11.78 seconds.  Rounding out the scoring for the Dukes was Reiner.  She earned a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:06.54.

Also competing for the Dukes on Sunday was senior Jaclyn Smith (Arlington, Va./Yorktown).  Smith competed in the triple jump, finishing in 16th with a bound of 11.93 meters (39'1.75")
