Basketball Game Day Policies (A-Z Fan Guide)

Accessibility
JMU is committed to providing complete accessibility to all facilities, fair and equal treatment of all patrons and guests.  For questions related to accessibility within any athletic facility, please call the Athletic Facilities and Events Office at 540.568.8810 or see one of the Game Operations staff on game day.  Guest will be responsible for providing their own wheelchair if needed for mobility.

Bags and Bag Search
Small bags, purses and fanny packs are permitted into athletic facilities. However, all bags are subject to search by JMU Guest Services, Game Operations staff, and Public Safety officials. Bags should be limited in size so they can fit under the seat or within your seating area. Please leave all unnecessary items in your vehicle or at home. JMU will not be responsible for any item left at the gate.  Guests who refuse to allow visual inspection of bags or purses will be denied entry into the venue. Please see the “Prohibited Items” section for items that are not permitted in athletic facilities.

Camera and Video Equipment
Still cameras with professional lenses are permitted if they do not obstruct any guests’ sightlines or interfere with the game in any way.  Video equipment is NOT permitted during the game.

Credentials and Access
Persons needing to request a credential should contact the Athletic Facilities and Events office at 540.568.8810.  Media requests should be directed to the Athletics Communications office at 540.568.6154.

Food and Beverage
Concessions are available at all regular and post-season Men's & Women's Basketball games.  See “Prohibited Items” for specific guidelines.

Emergencies and Evacuation Procedures
Evacuation routes will be determined by Public Safety Personnel (Police, Fire, Game/Event Management). Stay calm, poised, and follow the direction of the Public Address Announcer and the nearest Guest Services or Game Operations staff member.

Entrance Openings
All doors open 1 hour prior to start unless otherwise posted.

Court Access
Spectators are reminded they are prohibited from entering the playing field unless they are properly credentialed or accompanied by an authorized staff member. Violators are subject to arrest.

Guest Conduct Expectations and Safety Policies

  • Our staff will proactively intervene to support an environment where guests can enjoy the game free from unacceptable behavior, including the following:

  • No unruly or disruptive behavior

  • No foul/abusive language or obscene gestures

  • Shirt and shoes required at all times.

  • Intoxicated guests or guests showing signs of impairment related to alcohol will be removed from venue.

  • Interfering with another fan’s ability to enjoy the game is prohibited.

  • No standing in seats or the bench portion of bleacher seats.

  • No standing or sitting in the aisles.

  • No shaking rails.

  • No throwing of objects.

Game Operations staff reserves the right to determine what is unruly or unacceptable behavior; therefore, warranting removal from the venue.  If anyone is interfering with your enjoyment of our facility, please contact the nearest Guest Services or Game Operations staff for assistance.

Lost and Found
Items will be turned in to the Athletic Facilities and Events office located in the Convocation Center Room 101 or may be contacted by calling 540.568.8810.

Media/Photographers
Persons working for media outlets should arrange for credentials in advance from the Athletics Communications Office at 540.568.6154.  Persons will not be allowed on sidelines or within playing areas without displaying appropriate credentials.

    • Alcoholic Beverages/ Illegal Drugs

    • Artificial Noisemakers/ Whistles/ Horns (Exception: Cow bells/ Thundersticks allowed at Stadium)

    • Bags (Large)/ Coolers

    • Food/ Beverages (Exception: Aramark Food/ Plastic Water bottles)

    • Glass/ Metal containers

    • Obscene/ Indecent Clothing or Language

    • Pets (Exception: Service Animals)

    • Signs/ Flags/ Banners (Exception: Signage produced and distributed by Athletics Marketing)

    • Video Cameras

    • Weapons

    • Wheelies/ Bicycles/ Skateboards

    • Whistles, horns or other noise makers  

JMU Athletics reserves the right to deny anyone or anything from entering the venue.

Re-Entry Policy
Re-entry is allowed with an appropriate ticket stub and hand stamp.
