    CONTRACT EXTENSION AWARDED TO LACROSSE COACH KLAES-BAWCOMBE

    HARRISONBURG, Va., July 26, 2010 -- JMU lacrosse coach Shelley Klaes-Bawcombe, who led the Dukes to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals last spring, has had her contract with JMU extended.

    Director of Athletics Jeff Bourne announced the extension of the contract through the 2015 season.

    Klaes-Bawcombe is entering her fifth season as Dukes' head coach and 10th career season.

    She guided her 2010 team to a Colonial Athletic Association championship and a number seven national ranking.  Klaes-Bawcombe's 2010 team established school season records for wins (17) and winning percentage (.850) and earned a number five seed (second-highest in the program's history) in the NCAA Tournament.

    In 2010 Klaes-Bawcombe was named the national Coach of the Year by womenslacrosse.com, was chosen CAA Coach of the Year and was selected to coach the South Team in the North-South All-Star Game    .
