HARRISONBURG, Va., Nov. 3, 2009 – James Madison sophomore diver Nicole Jotso (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) was named CAA Diver of the Week on Tuesday following her performance on Saturday in a 173-110 victory at Radford.
Jotso posted qualifying marks in both diving events for the NCAA Zone Meet. She won the one-meter dive with a score of 265.35. She then finished third amid a trio of JMU divers all within two points of each other in the three-meter event with a score of 282.60. All three divers, including junior Jessie Everett (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) and freshman Kimberly Helfrich (Fort Belvoir, Va./West Springfield) qualified for the Zone meet with their three-meter mark.
Jotso owns both school records at JMU following a freshman season in which she was named All-CAA in the three-meter and became the first Dukes’ diver to top 300 points in a six-dive event. She also qualified for the Zone meet as a freshman and was named CAA Diver of the Week once last year on Feb. 3.
JMU will be back in the pool this weekend, Nov. 6-8 in a CAA Pod Meet at Old Dominion along with Drexel, Northeastern, and William and Mary.
