HARRISONBURG, Va., Nov. 2, 2009 – James Madison freshman Tori Lindsey (Audubon, Pa./Methacton) was named Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week on Monday after scoring two goals, including a key game winner, last week.
With the score tied 2-2 against Northeastern on Sunday, Lindsey connected on a rebound of another JMU shot on a penalty-corner play with 6:46 remaining in the second overtime period. The win clinched a spot for JMU in the CAA Championship, where the Dukes will be seeded third and face second-seeded Delaware at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday in the semifinals at Drexel.
Lindsey also scored the tying goal with five minutes remaining on Friday in a last-second loss to Iowa. The two goals for the week tie her for the team lead for the season with 13, which also ranks third in JMU history by a freshman. She took over the team lead for the season with four game-winning goals. Her performances for the week also moved her into third in JMU freshman history in points (27) and game winners.
The award is the second of the season for Lindsey, who was named both CAA Player and Rookie of the Week on Oct. 5 after scoring six goals in a 3-0 week.
