RADFORD, Va., Oct. 31, 2009 – James Madison won all 16 events and four diving scores met NCAA Zone qualification in a 173-110 victory over Radford on Saturday afternoon at the Dedmon Center Pool.

JMU improved to 3-0 on the season while RU dropped to 0-3.

"We were happy to get another win today against Radford,” commented JMU head coach Samantha Smith. “We have some areas we need to improve but our girls supported each other and competed well as a team."

Sophomore Nicole Jotso (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) and junior Jessie Everett (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) split the diving events with Jotso taking the one meter at 265.35 and Everett claiming the three-meter with a score of 284.47.  Both scores reached qualifying marks for the NCAA Zone meet in March.  Jotso also reached the qualifying mark in the three meter with a score of 282.60, as did freshman Kimberly Helfrich (Fort Belvoir, Va./West Springfield) in three meter at 282.67.

Junior Lisa Colapietro (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) had three individual wins for JMU, including the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.1.3, 200 breast in 2:23.64, and 200 individual medley in 2:12.50.  She also assisted on a relay win in the 200 medley in a time of 1:49.90.  She was joined by junior Morgan McCarthy (New Castle, Del./St. Mark’s), junioir Carly Gibson (Bethesda, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross), and senior P.J. Naber (Chantilly, Va./Chanittly).

Naber was one of three other Dukes with a pair of individual wins, claiming the 200 freestyle in 1:56.25 and the 100 free in 53.69 seconds.  The other double winners included freshman Caroline Burns (Severna Park, Md./Severn School) in the 100 backstroke in 59.99 seconds and the 200 back in 2:10.44 as well as sophomore Lauren Kranz (Clifton, Va./James Robinson) in the 1,000 free in 10:33.65 and the 500 free in 5:13.80.

Other individual winners included Gibson in the 100 fly in 1:00.74, sophomore Rebecca Hunt (Glen Allen, Va./J.R. Tucker) in the 50 free in 25.25 seconds, and freshman Andrea Criscuolo (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) in the 200 fly in 2:10.15.

The other JMU victory came in the 400 free relay in 3:43.95.  The winning team included sophomore Melissa Helock (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood), junior Carrie Greene (Midlothian, Va./Granbury), junior Kristen Wolla (Arlington, Va./Yorktown), and Hunt.

JMU’s next competition will be this weekend, Nov. 6-8 in a CAA Pod Meet at Old Dominion.  The Dukes and Lady Monarchs will be joined in Norfolk by William and Mary, Drexel, and Northeastern.

Smith added, "We are excited about our opportunity next weekend to compete against some strong opponents from our conference.  We will have to step up our performance next weekend, but I am confident our team will rise to the challenge."
