RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 27, 2009 - Former James Madison quarterback Rodney Landers (Virginia Beach, Va./Tallwood) has signed a contract with the Indoor Football League's Richmond Revolution, the team announced Tuesday.

Landers was in the JMU program from 2004-08 and was the Dukes' starting quarterback during NCAA playoff seasons in 2007 and 2008.  He led JMU to the Football Championship Subdivision semifinals in 2008, a season during which he won the Dudley Award as Virginia's top college player, was the offensive player of the year in Colonial Athletic Association and the Eastern College Athletic Conference, and was runner-up for the Walter Payton Award as the leading FCS player.

Landers in 2008 led JMU to a 12-2 overall record and to an 8-0 mark in the CAA.  He led the conference in rushing with 1,770 yards, and he threw for 1,534 yards.  He ran for 16 touchdowns and threw for 21, and he directed the Dukes to wins over seven nationally ranked teams.

Landers ran for a JMU-quarterback-record 206 yards in a win over Massachusetts, rushed for more than 100 yards in a game 10 times, and threw three touchdown passes in a five times during the 2008 season.

JMU had a 20-4 record in FCS games during the 2007 and 2008 seasons with Landers as a starter, and he completed his career with 3,477 yards and 31 touchdowns rushing and 3,288 yards and 35 touchdowns passing.

The IFL season begins in March.
