This department develops promotional events and collateral materials in an effort to increase interest and consequent attendance for athletic events. They work closely with coaches, spirit groups, band and sponsors to gain synergy and energy to enhance the fan experience.
General Information: JMU Athletics Marketing is seeking a number of students to serve in the Athletics Marketing Office each semester. Students must attend JMU and receive academic credit for their work in the department.
Duties and Responsibilities: Assist the Director of Athletics Marketing & Promotions and Marketing Associate with promotions and event management for Football, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, and other select sports; provide a high level of customer service to JMU and the Athletics Department's customers and staff; assist in publicizing athletics events to the local community and students; compliance with VA, JMU, NCAA, and conference requirements; and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics Marketing and Marketing Associate.
Qualifications: Preferences will be given to candidates with previous experience with sport marketing. It is important for applicants to have strong organizational skills, energetic, creative, a positive attitude, and the ability to communicate effectively and work well with other students, faculty, staff and the community. Applicant must also have a flexible work schedule and be able to work at nights, weekends, breaks, and holidays.
