 Game Notes:

  • This is the third and final game in the Dukes’ opening stretch of “get back” games against in-state rivals. JMU will not face another Virginia team until at least Dec. 30 when the Dukes could face Norfolk State in the JMU Invitational.
  • The Spiders are 1-2 on the season, picking up a win at Miami while dropping games at Georgetown and home against UAB.
  • Through two games, the Dukes hold a +14.0 rebounding margin over opponents. While JMU is averaging 45.5 boards per game, opponents are snagging just 31.5 rebounds per outing. The Spiders are outrebounding their opponents 47.3 to 45.0 this season, including a 62-37 edge on the offensive boards.

  • The Dukes enter the CAA Championship as the fourth seed after going 8-6 in league play. They won their final three matches of the year and four of their last five.
  • Lizzy Briones was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week after collecting 22 blocks in a pair of wins over Northeastern and Hofstra last weekend. She had 11 blocks in each match, setting a new career-high.
  • Briones heads into the weekend with 151 blocks on the year and needs 12 more to break Kate Fuchs single-season school record set in 2002.
  • The Dukes are 2-0 against Hofstra this season, sweeping both matches by 3-0 scores.

 Game Notes:

  • This will be the 25th time that the two schools have met on the playing field, with Madison holding a commanding 18-5-1 margin, including 7-4-1 at Towson. JMU has won the last eight meetings between the two programs, including last year's 13-10 thriller at Bridgeforth Stadium and a 17-13 victory at Unitas Stadium in 2010.
  • JMU finds itself among the leaders in the nation in various statistical categories in FCS play. Defensively, Madison ranks first in the CAA and seventh in FCS in rushing defense at 97.5 yards per game, 33rd in scoring defense at 23.7 points per game and leading the league and fourth in FCS in sacks at 3.45 per contest.

 Game Notes:

  • This is the first game of JMU’s season not against an in-state opponent, and it is the final game for the Dukes before they compete in the Gulf Coast Showcase (Nov. 29-Dec. 1).
  • The Braves are 1-3 to start the season with their win coming in their lone home game. They are averaging just 37.5 points per game while opponents are posting 77.8 points per game.  The Braves also are shooting 21.4 percent from the field, including 13.3 percent from 3-point range.
