 Game Notes:

  • JMU fell 4-3 at William & Mary on Sunday, Sept. 29, when the Tribe scored a goal in the 67th minute, breaking a 3-3 tie. 
  • Sophomore Adrienne le Vatte posted two goals for the Dukes in the loss, both off tap-ins from sophomore Loes Stijntjes.
  • Nationally, JMU is ranked 10th in scoring average (3.30) and 13th in points per game (8.60).
  • This will be Towson’s opening game of 2013 Colonial Athletic Association action.  The Tigers are 1-9 overall this season.

  • The UVA Fall Classic features seven singles flights and seven doubles flights. Twenty-one schools will compete in the event.
  • Sophomore Maxi Branth is a perfect 2-0 in singles play following the season-opening event at East Carolina. Branth won both matches in straight sets. Niels Kathol also posted a singles win for the Dukes and finished 1-1.
  • Freshman Mason Smith teamed with Branth for a pair of doubles wins at the ECU Fall Shootout. The duo finished 2-1, while the doubles teams of freshman Alex Berdnikoff-Kathol and sophomore Robert Stirling-freshman Brett Moorhead won one match apiece.

 Game Notes:

  • This is the first time that the Dukes and Great Danes have met on the football field. UAlbany has joined the Colonial Athletic Association this season from the Northeast Conference, where they were the defending champions
  • The Dukes are tough to beat at Bridgeforth Stadium under Head Coach Mickey Matthews. In his 14-plus years at the helm, Matthews has led his squad to a solid 66-20 (.767) record in Harrisonburg.
  • Redshirt-senior linebacker Stephon Robertson is also first in the CAA and sixth nationally at 12.2 tackles a contest.
  • Currently, redshirt-senior running back Dae'Quan Scott is second in the CAA and 10th nationally in rushing per game with 128.8 yards a contest. He also ranks in the top 20 in FCS football in all-purpose yards (12th, 158.00) and scoring per game (18th, 9.6). He ranks 36th in punt return average at 7.6 yards per return.

  • Sophomore Jenna Flickinger tallied a second-place finish, just 5.6 seconds off the lead time.
  • Freshman Tessa Mundell notched a fifth-place finish, junior Kristen Landry crossed in sixth place and junior Rachel Hagen rounded out the top 10 in 10th place.
  • The Paul Short Invitational will feature over 40 other teams in the College Women Gold Race, including USTFCCCA top-15 teams in the Southeast Region - Wake Forest (10th), Richmond (11th) and Appalachian State (15th).
