The Dukes look to continue notching qualifying marks for postseason competition. For the Eastern College Athletic Conference outdoor championships, Dukes are qualified for nine events, including the four they added last weekend.
Among those who became eligible for the ECACs March 29-30 are seniors Katie Gorman (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) and Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hill). Gorman finished the 10,000-meter run in 35:20.76, more than two minutes faster than the ECAC-qualifying mark of 37:40.24, and Harman completed the 5,000-meter run in a personal-best 16:29.28, surpassing the qualifying time of 17:16.64. The times also put both Dukes in the mix for bids to the NCAA East Regional in May as Gorman’s time is the 20th-best so far this spring in the 10,000-meter run, and Harman’s time is the 25th-best so far in the 5,000-meter run.
Two JMU relay teams also posted qualifying marks for the ECAC outdoor championships their last time on the track. For the 4x100-meter relay, junior Lauren Privette (Round Hill, Va./Loudoun Valley), freshman Destiny Simmons (Staunton, Va./Robert E. Lee), junior Ashley Williams (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) and junior Ciarra Morris (Richmond, Va./Meadowbrook) tallied a time of 47.61 seconds.
