Burkholder was selected
Player of the Week, and Hall was chosen Rookie of the Week following a four-day
period in which the Dukes posted wins at George Mason and Hofstra. JMU won 71-55 at Mason on
Jan. 24 and took an 85-62 home victory over Hofstra on Jan. 27. The Dukes extended their win streak to five
games, improved their record to 12-7 and moved into a tie for second place in
the CAA standings with a 6-1 league record.
Burkholder tied with Hall for game scoring honors with 20 points at George
Mason and also handed out three assists and had two steals. She topped that with a career-high and
game-high 28 points against Hofstra. She
also had a team-high eight rebounds, an assist and two steals vs. the Pride.
She shot 61 percent (14-23) from the field, 73 percent (8-11) from 3-point
range and 86 percent (12-14) from the foul line in last week's games.
Hall's 20 points at Mason was a career-high, and she set a JMU freshman record
with seven steals vs. the Patriots. She
also had six rebounds and three assists in the Mason game. Hall turned in a 16-point, five-rebound
performance against Hofstra.
In last week's games Hall shot 50 percent (12-24) from the field and made 36
percent (4-11) of her 3-point attempts and 80 percent (8-10) of her free-throw
Burkholder earned the CAA honor
for the second time, and Hall received her fourth rookie honor of the year.
JMU is on the road this week for games at Towson on Jan. 31 and at William and
Mary on Feb. 3.
