From MLS Reports
NEW YORK, Dec. 11, 2012 -- James Madison men's soccer player Paul Wyatt (Modbury, England/Ivybridge) is among 54 Division I college seniors who have been
invited to participate
in the 2013 adidas MLS Player Combine.
Major League Soccer Tuesday
announced the list of invited players, which includes two Missouri Athletic
Club Hermann Trophy finalists, 15 All-Americas and eight NCAA College Cup
participants.
The combine will be held in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., from Jan. 11-15. All invited players will be eligible for
selection in 2013 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas, which will take place on Jan.
17 in Indianapolis (noon ET).
A committee of NCAA Division I coaches from every conference, as well as MLS
representatives, selected the invitees, all of whom completed their college
eligibility this season. Generation
adidas signings, non-collegiate players, and additional college seniors will be
announced in the coming weeks.
Wyatt,
a 2011 All-America and a four-time All-Colonial Athletic Association selection,
was the Dukes' leading scorer in 2012 with nine goals and 21 points. The senior, who played both forward and
midfield during his four JMU seasons, completed his college career tied for
12th on JMU's all-time goals list (28) and tied for 17th on the points list
(67).
Then JMU senior CJ Sapong participated in the 2011 MLS Player
Combine and was drafted 10th in the subsequent MLS Superdraft by Sporting
Kansas City. He was the 2011 MLS Rookie
of the Year and in 2012 completed his second season with KC.
