Swimming and Diving Sweeps CAA Pod Meet

NEWARK, Del., Nov. 4, 2012 – The James Madison swimming and diving team won two more events on Sunday as it completed a sweep in the Colonial Athletic Association Pod Meet at the Carpenter Sports Building in Newark, Del. 

JMU swept the four-team meet with wins over Delaware (231-117), UNCW (220-125) and William & Mary (214-128). The Dukes are now 5-2 this season in dual meets, including a 3-0 mark against CAA competition. 

Sophomore Sin Hye Won (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) earned her second individual event title of the weekend as she timed a 2:22.49 in the 200-yard breaststroke to beat her nearest competitor by more than a second. Senior Andrea Criscuolo (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) also picked up her second individual event title, blowing away the field in the 200 butterfly. She touched the wall at 2:05.30 to win by more than two seconds. 

Sophomore Melissa Criscuolo (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) was third in the 200 butterfly, timing a 2:09.02. 

Junior Morgan Johnson (Woodstock, Ga./Woodstock) and sophomore Aimee Hooper (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) claimed second and third in the 500 freestyle. Johnson was second with a time of 5:03.65 and Hooper took third at 5:05.87. 

Other top performances from the Dukes include sophomore Susanne Gingher (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) taking second in the 100 freestyle (52.49) and freshman Kacy Edsall (Roanoke, Va./William Byrd) claiming fourth in the 200 backstroke (2:06.68). 

In the only relay of the day, the Madison 400-yard freestyle team of Gingher, junior Kelsey Holmgaard (Roanoke, Va./George Mason) and freshmen Camilla Czulada (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) and Carli Molano (Centreville, Va./Westfield) touched the wall just .02 seconds behind the team from William & Mary to finish second (3:31.40). 

JMU returns to the pool Nov. 15-17, in Pittsburgh, Pa., as its participate in the Pittsburgh Invitational.
