CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The James Madison men's tennis team collected three doubles wins on the second day of the ITA Atlantic Regionals in Charlottesville, Va.
Senior Ryan Pool (Melbourne, Australia/Braemar (UT-Chattanooga)) and freshman Robert Stirling (Caboolture, Australia/St. Columbans College) went 2-0 on Saturday, winning both of their doubles contests to advance to the round-of-16. Pool and Stirling first defeated Norfolk State's Peter Rastromer-Pello and Dzmitry Zyhmantovich 8-3, then took down Virginia's Mitchell Polnet and Alex Scheinman in a quick 8-3 set. The duo is now 10-0 this fall when they battle on the courts together.
The duo of seniors Hugo Ramadier (Paris, France/Lycee Francais Chateabriand (Northern Arizona)) and Florent Sentenac (Borderes, France/Lycee Theophile Gautier (Auburn Montgomery)) won their first-round bout with Temple's Nicolas Paulas and Hernan Vasconez 8-6. They fell just short in their round-of-32 match-up against VCU's four-seed pair of Alexis Heugas and Michael Voscek, ending their fall doubles season.
Pool added another victory to his day with a 6-4, 7-6 singles win over George Mason's Jimmy Davis. He fell to six-seed Ryan Shane (UVA) in the round-of-32 6-2, 6-3. Pool tallied a 12-1 record in tournament-play this fall.
