HARRISONBURG, Va. - The James Madison men's tennis team turned in another strong performance at the ECU Shootout as it notched four doubles victories and two singles wins on day two of the round-robin tournament.
Freshman Robert Stirling (Caboolture, Australia) collected his second collegiate singles win with a 6-3, 6-1 singles victory over Richmond's Sebastien Fauchet. He also took two doubles wins on the day with his partner, senior Ryan Pool (Melbourne, Australia/Braemar (Chattanooga)). Stirling and Pool took down East Carolina's Joran Vliegen and Colin Roller, 8-5, as well as Richmond's Fauchet and Aaron Wicker by a score of 8-4.
Senior Bastien Russo (Lyon, France/Notre Dame des Minimes (Shorter)) won the Dukes' second singles match of the day, defeating Richmond's Will Welte in three sets (6-4, 4-6, 10-5). Russo teamed up with fellow senior Greg Vladimirsky (Staten Island, N.Y./Broward Virtual) to round out the day two doubles wins for JMU. Vladimirsky and Russo won 8-6 against Richmond's and Ethan Dunbar before claiming an 8-6 victory over East Carolina's Ross Nigro and Mario Martinez.
The Dukes finish the 2012 ECU Shootout on Sunday when they complete their round-robin play in singles competition.
