JMU rebounded from a 1-0 loss to Georgetown on Aug. 24 by beating Temple 2-0 on Aug. 26.  Both games were part of the JMU/Fairfield Inn by Marriott Invitational Tournament.

Scouting Penn:  The Quakers open the 2012 season against the Dukes.  Penn finished second in the eight-team Ivy League in 2011 after winning the conference tournament in 2010.

The Series with Penn:  JMU won the first three meetings, twice in NCAA Tournament play (1999, 2007) and once in regular-season competition (2002).  Penn got its only win in the four-game series last season, with a 1-0 victory at JMU.

Germain Moves Up on Career List:
 In JMU's 2-0 Aug. 26 win over Temple, redshirt senior Kelly Germain assisted on both Dukes' goals.  She increased her career total to 11 and moved into 24th place on JMU's career assist list.

Three Dukes Earn All-Tournament Honors:
 Freshmen Kelly Kerrigan and Elissa Halik and sophomore Shannon Rano were named to the All-Tournament Team at the JMU/Fairfield Inn by Marriott Invitational Tournament.
     Kerrigan scored the game-winning goal vs. Temple while Halik and Rano anchored a JMU defense that allowed only one goal in two games.

JMU Projected for NCAA Field:  JMU is projected to be among the 64 teams in the 2012 NCAA Tournament field, according to the website TopDrawerSoccer.com.  The weekly rankings are a running attempt to project the postseason NCAA Tournament qualifiers, including every automatic conference berth.
     The Week 3 rankings, released Aug. 27, have the Dukes at #44 on the list.
     JMU regular-season opponents on the list include

        #15 Georgetown (Aug. 24)
        #42 William and Mary (Sept. 23)
        #56 Navy (Sept. 14)
