HARRISONBURG, Va. -  The James Madison University Department of Athletics will be providing the JMU Nation with more access than ever before with its live video streaming capabilities this season. For the first time, live high-definition video streams on MadiZONE, accessible on JMUSports.com, will be provided free of charge for all home football and men's and women's basketball games, as well as selected men's and women's soccer, volleyball, field hockey, baseball and softball.

In addition, MadiZONE will add one live broadcast each of home swimming & diving and track & field during the 2012-13 year. That brings the number of live MadiZONE video broadcasts to at least 45 for the new season.

"We believe this represents significant progress in our video streaming here at JMU and we are very excited to offer free video streaming for our fans, parents, alumni and friends in the JMU Nation," Director of Athletics Jeff Bourne said. "We have worked hard to improve the quality of MadiZONE and bring it to a HD platform in all of our live streaming this year. This is the next step in increasing our viewership, which will allow more fans to tune in to watch the Dukes as we continue to expand the brand of JMU athletics."

MadiZONE video productions go above the industry standard for university websites.  Current productions include commentary, multiple camera angles, graphics and replays.  All productions are also archived for future access at the fan's leisure.

JMU will continue to partner with NeuLion, one of the leaders in video streaming in all facets of broadcast, and will also be providing free audio and live stats through the NeuLion portal. Fans will be asked to create a log-in account on their first visit that will allow them to access the live video from any computer and the iPad and live audio and video on demand from the computer and iPad, iPhone and Android apps, as well as the ability to bid on future JMU Online Auctions. Those already with a NeuLion/MadiZONE account will just log in as done previously to watch any home game.

The live action gets underway on Sunday, August 19, as the JMU women's soccer team hosts Marshall in the first broadcast from University Park, the new home of the Dukes' men's and women's soccer, lacrosse and cross country/track and field programs. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
