HARRISONBURG, Va. - James Madison University men's tennis team finished in a tie for 10th in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association Atlantic Region Rankings, the organization recently announced. JMU was tied with fellow Colonial Athletic Association school William & Mary, while Virginia finished as the top team in the region.
"It has been a few years since we have been in the final regional ranking," Head Coach Steve Secord said. "It's a great honor to be recognized from such a solid region. We seem to keep elevating our level each year and I am proud of the guys for working hard through some injuries early in January and working towards improving each day. Having Tommi (Nissinen) able to compete towards the end was great. He has struggled with tendinitis the past three years and we just tried to rest him as much as possible. Tommi graduated but the top four guys; Greg (Vladimirsky), Ryan (Pool), Hugo (Ramadier) and Florent (Sentenac) will all be seniors next year and are looking forward to building off this ranking next year."
Madison finished 11-10 on the year and 3-2 in league play, including the first win over William & Mary in 16 years. Secord was named CAA Co-Coach of the Year, while Vladimirsky earned Second Team All-CAA in singles and teamed with senior Bertrand Moulin to earn Third Team All-CAA honors in doubles.
