Dukes Student Team Manager Program

The goal of the Dukes Student Team Manager Program is to successfully introduce the student to intercollegiate athletic administration and coaching through athletic-related activities and actual work experiences with a sport team.  This program will help prepare the next group of athletic administrators and coaches.

SUMMARY: The Dukes Student Team Manager Program is offered to those students interested in sports administration, intercollegiate athletics, or coaching.  This program offers graduated stipend based on the level of support as a Student Team Manager that is paid per semester.  In addition to typical team manager duties, the student will be required to complete an educational component, i.e. outside readings/discussion, panel discussions, informational interviews, etc.  The student will be required to maintain a 2.0 G.P.A to remain eligible for the program.  If grades fall below a 2.0, the student will be asked to leave the program.  Students are eligible to re-apply to the program once their G.P.A increases.


  •  Assist with workouts and practices (as assigned)
  •  Assist with Home Games (as assigned)
  •  Travel to Away Games (as assigned)
  •  Administrative Duties (as assigned)
  •  Gain resources/ references within the JMU Athletic Department Staff and Coaches
  •  Understand day-to-day operations of a Division 1 varsity sport team
