    COLLEGE PARK, Md., May 7, 2009 -- James Madison junior Alison Parris (Saint Leonard, Md./Patuxent) met the Eastern College Athletic Conference qualifying standard in the 800 meters Thursday night at the Maryland Twilight Track and Field Meet.

     

    Parris finished fifth overall and second among collegiate runners with a time of 2 minutes, 10.58 seconds.

     

    She surpassed her previous personal-best in the race of 2:12.23, which she ran at the 2008 Colonial Athletic Association Championships.

     

    Only three runners in school history have run a faster 800 meter time than Parris.

     

    The ECAC Championships are scheduled for May 15-17 at Princeton.
