VCU got on the scoreboard midway through the first period when senior Wendy Acosta received a pass from junior Brianne Moore (Halifax, Nova Scotia/Halifax West) and dribbled into the penalty box. She beat redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Kate Courter (Lincoln Park, N.J./Immaculate Heart) with a low sharply-angled shot from the left corner of the goal that fell inside the right post.
