Position: Graduate Assistant
Alma Mater: Massachusetts

Candynce Boney is returning as a graduate assistant for her second season with the James Madison women's tennis program.

During her first season with the Dukes in 2011-12, she served as the assistant coach and helped lead the team to a 12-6 overall record, including a 4-3 conference record against CAA foes.

Prior to her coaching career, Boney was a four-year starter for the University of Massachusetts Minutewomen.  She was named First Team All-Atlantic 10 twice (2007-08; 2009-10) and the league's Rookie of the Year (2007-08) as a freshman.

A native of Las Vegas, Nev., she compiled a 57-35 career singles record and 55-39 in doubles. Prior to her tenure at UMass, Boney went 64-0 in singles play as a senior at Canyon Springs High School in Las Vegas en route to an individual state title. She also captured the state doubles title as a freshman in high school.

Boney got her start in tennis at age 10 when she joined Team Agassi in Las Vegas, which is run by tennis hall of famer Andre Agassi. By age 13, she began coaching beginner and intermediate tennis athletes until she graduated high school.
