HARRISONBURG, Va., June 24, 2010 - James Madison men's tennis doubles partners Mike Smith (Fairfax Station, Va./Robinson) and Matt King (Lorton, Va./Robinson) were named to the 2010 University Division All-State squad on Thursday by the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID).

The Dukes' top doubles duo was voted to the second team by a vote of the state's Sports Information Directors.  Smith and King were the first JMU men's tennis players to be recognized by VaSID in the five years the organization has be naming an All-State team.

The University of Virginia led all teams with eight selections including sweeping the individual honors.  Michael Shabaz was named the Player of the Year, while fellow Cavalier Jarmere Jenkins took home Rookie of the Year honors.  UVA head coach Brian Boland was named the Coach of the Year.

Smith and King went 23-11 in doubles play during the 2009-10 season.  They went 10-2 during the fall including winning doubles titles at both the Georgetown and Old Dominion Invitationals.  The second-team All-CAA tandem went 13-9 during dual match play in the spring and was ranked as high as 38th nationally.

William and Mary received the second-most honorees with one first-team and two second-team selections, while Radford, Old Dominion and Virginia Tech collected two honorees each.
