NORFOLK, Va., April 16, 2010 - Sixth-seeded
James Madison lost to third-seeded UNC Wilmington 4-0 in the quarterfinals of the
2010 Colonial Athletic Association Men's Tennis Championship at the
Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center in Norfolk, Va. on Friday.
The loss ends the Dukes season with a 15-10
overall record. UNCW improves to 15-5
and advances to the semifinals where it awaits the winner of Friday's match
between No. 2 VCU and No. 7 Delaware.
The Seahawks jumped ahead early with two
wins in doubles play for a 1-0 lead.
Second-team All-CAA doubles selection Michael Pereira and Ryan Ybarra
kicked things off with an 8-1 win at No. 2 before Kinshuk Sharma and Chris
Cooprider sealed the point with a 8-3 win at No. 1.
Sharma made it 2-0 UNCW by beating freshman
Greg Vladimirsky (Coral Springs,
Fla./Broward Virtual) 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2.
Kosta Blank beat freshman Stephen Hardy (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 before Cooprider sealed the
victory with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 6.
